What You Need to Decide Before Mixing
NICOTINE STRENGTH
First, decide the nicotine strength you'll want your final e-liquid to be. This will be whatever strength you currently vape at, and is completely down to personal preference.
Note, the higher the nicotine content, the harsher the throat hit will be.
Nicotine is now only available via Nicotine Shots at a maximum strength of 18mg.
If you wanted a 6mg (0.6%) strength e-liquid, using the 18mg nicotine, one third of the overall liquid would need to be the nicotine solution – 18 divided by 6 is 3.
Likewise, if you're looking for 3mg (0.3%), one sixth of the overall liquid would need to be the nicotine solution - 18 divided by 3 is 6.
Our NicBase Nicotine Shots come in 3 varieties:
- 100% VG - NicBase VG
- 30% PG / 70% VG - NicBase VPG Optima
- 50% PG / 50% VG - NicBase VPG
PG/VG MIXING RATIO
Second, you need to decide what ratio of PG/VG you'll want for your e-liquid.
The ratio of each used is all down to personal taste. PG gives a stronger throat hit and carries flavour better whereas VG produces a thicker vapour but doesn’t carry the flavour as well.
We find a 50% VG to 50% PG ratio to be a good balance between throat hit, flavour and vapour production.
The most important thing to remember is that everything you put into a mix contributes towards the overall ratio of PG/VG.
FLAVOUR CHOICES
Finally, you'll need to know which flavours you'd like to mix. A single flavour concentrate, your own recipe/blend of flavour concentrates, or a 'one-shot' concentrate.
Note that the amount required for your e-liquid depends on the brand of flavour used and whether you are using as a single flavour or part of a more complex mix.
Different flavour concentrates have different strengths, and therefore need to be mixed at different percentages
Always check the recommended mixing percentages for guidance on each flavour.
